Doobies were hit and miss
At the Majestic in San Antonio, Don Felder engaged the crowd way better than G-Eazy. The guitars were distorted and the vocals muddled due to the excessive ampage. The volume at the beginning of G-Eazy's set was too high - it should have reached that level near the end. Starting off with Jesus is Just Allright was tremendous, but the band was not together yet, and there were some timing issues, making the setlist hit and miss. The guys ARE talented - the best song of the night was the blues track they jammed on. I wanted to hear more from the album "The Captain and Me", like Ukiah, Captain, and Clear as the Driven Snow. The balance of the set was predictable as they played their hits, except for a couple of songs that only die-hards are familiar with. Despite being disappointed with the sound and setlist, the talent and energy are undeniable. When the main attraction is outplayed by the warm-up act, there's a problem.
